One feature of this year’s racing according to my ratings is that the British and Irish three-year-old fillies do not look great. The German and French fillies on the other hand look a pretty strong group - as we saw when the German filly Emerald Star beat a good field of older fillies in a Group 3 at Lingfield - having got beaten over three lengths by the top German filly Meerjungfrau on her previous start.

The latest evidence of the Franco-German superiority with three-year-old fillies came in the Listed Prix de la Seine at Longchamp where Ball Dancing (29-pace adjusted 39) produced an amazing finishing burst to come from last and win going away by two lengths.
