THE shock defeat of Golden Horn on Wednesday was a jolt for those who follow classic form as a number one rule, but everything came right in that respect 24 hours later as Jim Bolger’s Irish 1000 Guineas heroine Pleascach proved a neck too good for Covert Love, successful in the Irish Oaks, in the Group 1 Darley Yorkshire Oaks. French raider Sea Kalisi was only a further neck behind in the feature race on the second day.

Bolger had always said that Pleascach might well be the best filly he had trained at a mile and a half, though she was a shade disappointing when stepped up in trip in the Ribblesdale and the Pretty Polly.
