THE brilliant Battaash broke Dayjur’s track record in last year’s Nunthorpe Stakes, but loose ground caused by steady rain ensured that a repeat was never on the cards, and in the end Charlie Hills’s 1/2 favourite had to showcase his ability to battle as he had to deal with the pace of Que Amoro (Michael Dods/Paul Mulrennan).
