IAN Ferguson has a record second to none when it comes to spotting talent in the sales ring. The latest star to emerge is Wholestone and he won the Grade 1 Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham on Saturday for owners Simon Munir and Isaac Souede. The Nigel Twiston-Davies trained son of Craigsteel is a five-year-old and a gelding very much on the up and up.

His sire Craigsteel is a now 21-year-old son of Suave Dancer and was a Group 2 winner in his racing days. He came close to landing a big one when runner-up in the Grade 1 Turf Classic Invitational Stakes at Belmont Park.
