MARK Walsh warmed up for Aintree with a double for J.P. McManus at a very wet Wexford on Friday of last week. His winners Concordin and Whatareudoingtome were for two different trainers in Philip Dempsey and Robert Tyner who doubled up himself via Vicangelome in the two and a half mile handicap hurdle.

The Kinsale handler said after 7/2 chance Concordin had opened his account over fences in the Stena Line Horizon Beginners Chase when holding the renewed effort of Lisclogher Lad by two and a quarter lengths: “I like this place going the other way around. It’s a better track, even though I had plenty of winners going the other way, too! The race turned into a bit of a flat race (with the third and fourth fences being omitted on both circuits) and he had a good look at the second last. “He was off for a while and that was only his second time finishing over fences. It was a nice little pot to win and he’ll go for a handicap.”
