SARAH Ennis is the only member of last year’s European team who finished fifth in Strzegom, Poland, to make it on to the team for this year’s championship in Tryon. The biggest challengers on this occasion will no doubt be the British team who currently hold that European title.

However, there was plenty of controversy surrounding the British team when world number one Oliver Townend was left off the list, despite having three four-star horses available, and winning Kentucky and finishing second in Badminton. However, Dickie Waygood named his team as Ros Canter, Tina Cook, Piggy French, Tom McEwen and Gemma Tattersall and they look ready to pose a credible threat.
