KILDARE dressage rider Judy Reynolds is continuing to break Irish championship records. Today, she became the first ever Irish dressage rider to reach the Freestyle To Music final at a World Equestrian Games.

Friday’s performance in the Grand Prix Special with her wonderful dancing horse, Vancouver K, or known better as ‘JP’ to his many fans, saw them come out with a score of 73.982 and in 15th place qualify for Sunday’s grand finale.

Speaking to Team Ireland Equestrian afterwards, she said: "I was really, really happy with the test, it was pretty much mistake free. He [Vancouver K] was really with me in the ring. The heat was pretty extreme but he really dug deep and gave me everything he could. There is a lot of Passage work in the [Grand Prix] Special which is good for us - its a nice test to ride. The support from home has been amazing, every day we wake up and there are so many messages, it's just amazing support."

Following yesterday’s emotional performance, Germany’s dressage queen Isabell Werth once again produced a breath taking test with Bella Rose to win the individual gold medal with a score of 86.246 and she couldn’t hold back the tears on the podium. The 14-year-old chesnut mare returned from a four-year injury layoff this season.

As in yesterday’s team competition, the silver and bronze medals went the way of America and Britain. America’s Laura Graves scored 81.717% for second, and Charlotte Dujardin showed just how good she is when claiming the bronze medal with the nine-year-old mare Mount St John Freestyle (81.489).
