IF ever there was a day that case-and-pointed the extremities of owning National Hunt horses, it was last Sunday for Kenny Alexander and his racing manager Peter Molony.

Two of their most promising mares were in action in mares’ races at Cork and Punchestown. The day got off to a great start when Minella Melody took a listed mares’ novice hurdle at Punchestown, a race being run for the first time and is yet another welcome addition to the progressive mares’ programme.
