DESPITE the Covid-19 restrictions, it would appear to be business as usual for most of the bigger breeders in the region with the Meadowlands Stud’s Colin Kennedy reporting that he hasn’t been stopped, either way, on five visits south this season.

“I’ve had no difficulty as such but have been well-prepared,” said Kennedy. “I’ve had the studs send me an email confirming covering times so I can show those on my phone if needed, while the mares’ passports have all been in order. At the studs, we just stay in the lorry while the folk there look after everything. It’s all been very secure. It’s a bit worrying thinking what might lie ahead on the sales front but, as long as we all stay safe, that’s the main thing.”
