FOUR Northern trainers were on the mark in the past eight days, with Co Antrim farrier Paul Traynor sending out partner Karen McNeilly’s Shumaker to win two-mile handicap hurdles at Fairyhouse on Saturday and at Punchestown on Wednesday.

On Saturday, when ridden by Darragh O’Keeffe, the Whitmore’s Conn seven-year-old was backed in from 12/1 to 9/2 before winning by five lengths. On Wednesday, with Donal McInerney in the saddle, the chesnut gelding scored by three-parts of a length as the 11/8 favourite.
