CROSSGAR trainer Colin McBratney has three horses entered in the open at today’s North Down point-to-point in Kirkistown in a bid to win some of the money put up by the race sponsor, his good friend James Murdoch.

Last Saturday, the pair, and their respective wives, Julie and Judith, travelled over to Northumberland for the Percy meeting at Alnwick where they jointly sponsored the nine-runner open maiden. The race produced an excellent result for the day-trippers as the winner, Worcester Pearmain, was not only trained by Downpatrick native Tony Dobbin for his father-in-law, Duncan Davidson, but the intrepid foursome backed the bay as well.
