THERE were a lot of northern-bred winners on the track and in point-to-points over the weekend but special mention must go to Medicean Bliss whose Downpatrick breeder, Niall McGrady, has been in the news this season as he also bred the great veteran chaser Lie Forrit.

Medicean Bliss, a three-year-old filly by Medicean, who won a maiden at Wolverhampton on Friday week evening, is the second foal and first winner out of the Cape Cross mare So Blissful who won once on the flat. Her dam was the Sadler’s Wells mare Royal Devotion whose two successes included the Ardilaun House Hotel Oyster Stakes (Listed).
