ONE of the most interesting results this week came at Dundalk on Tuesday evening when the Winged Love gelding Joey Sasa made a winning debut on the flat in the closing mile and a half maiden.

Trained by Noel Meade for owner Eamonn Duignan and sent off the 4/5 favourite, the nine-year-old won by four lengths in the hands of Colin Keane. Joey Sasa, who also has two bumper wins and two victories over hurdles to his credit, was bred by Co Down’s Patricia Doran out of the Monsun mare Brescia, dam also of the Generous mare Degenerous who won once on the flat and once over hurdles for Banbridge trainer Sarah Dawson.
