ONE north of Ireland-born individual I failed to mention in connection with a winner at last month’s Cheltenham Festival was Ronan Galway who led up Chosen Mate, winner of the Grade 3 Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Challenge Cup Handicap Chase on the Friday.

The seven-year-old Well Chosen gelding, who justified 7/2 favouritism under Davy Russell, was a seventh winner at this year’s Festival for trainer Gordon Elliott whose Cullentra House Stables in Co Meath Galway joined three years ago having first spent a year and a half with Pat Martin.
