NORTHERN yards had very much the better of the results at Portrush on Saturday with just the four-year-old maiden being won by a southern-trained horse. Perhaps more meetings should be staged high up in Co Antrim!

It was a red letter day for Gerald Quinn, who, better known as a rider, recorded his first win as a handler when the once-previously raced Glenmona won the mares’ maiden by six lengths. Initiating a double for rider Mark O’Hare, the five-year-old Dubai Destination bay runs in the colours of Kieran McKay, whose brother Alistair purchased the mare for just €600 at Tattersalls’ February Sale of 2015.
