THE Conways from Magherafelt are enjoying a nice run with their homebred mares as following Avellino, who won bumpers at Down Royal over Christmas and at Fairyhouse a month later, Dermot ‘Red’ McLoughlin sent out Dixie Lee to land a similar contest at Down Royal on St Patrick’s Day.

Bred by Pat and running in Tilly’s well-known pink colours, the five-year-old Holy Roman Emperor mare, who was having her fifth start, justified 5/4 favouritism under Mark O’Hare by one and a half lengths from Wexford raider, Sunset Marquis.
