Local trainer Peter Miller achieved a remarkable double at the Breeders’ Cup on Saturday, winning both the Sprint and the Filly & Mare Turf Sprint.

Without a previous win at this event, Miller managed to saddle the first and second in the Filly & Mare Sprint when 30/1 shot Stormy Liberal led home Richard’s Boy. Odds-on favourite Lady Aurelia could only manage 10th while British raider Marsha struggled to go the early pace and ran on to finish sixth.

Stable companion Roy H was a 9/2 chance for the Sprint and sat just behind the speed in the early stages before being unleased by jockey Kent Desormeaux in the straight and running out a fairly comfortable winner over Imperial Hint.
