ON just his fourth career start, the talented Shamikh extended his unbeaten record at Jebel Ali to three with victory in the mile Pat Smullen Conditions Stakes on dirt yesterday. The $430,000 Ocala Sale two-year-old is slowly repaying that investment and brighter days ahead look certain.

Ryan Curatolo was in the plate on the Nicholas Bachalard-trained four-year-old son of Lea, who races in the distinctive silks of racecourse patron Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for whom Smullen rode. Shamikh has now contributed three of the owners’ eight victories this season.
