SHADWELL added their name to the feature at Jebel Ali on Friday afternoon. The near 10-furlong conditions race will long be remembered by Frenchman Clement Lecoeuvre who partnered his first UAE winner, the Godolphin-bred Blue Sovereign, in his new role as stable jockey to compatriot Erwan Charpy.

Lecoeuvre, in the predominantly green silks of the Al Bait Mutawahed team, decided early on that a moderate pace would not suit his horse and the pair took over at the head of affairs. That proved decisive, with the five-year-old Teofilo gelding hanging on grimly to add to his only previous success over a longer trip at Al Ain in February.
