BOCCA Baciata, meaning ‘mouth that has been kissed’, is the title of an 1859 painting by Dante Gabriel Rossetti and was the first of his pictures to feature single female figures, establishing the style that was later to become a signature of his work.

Bocca Baciata is also the name of the Jessica Harrington-trained four-year-old filly who deservedly stepped up on her recent second in the Group 1 Sea The Stars Pretty Polly Stakes to win Sunday’s Group 2 Kilboy Estate Stakes. Bred by Gerry Oldham’s Citadel Stud, the daughter of Big Bad Bob was sold as a yearling for €230,000 at Goffs.
