CUSP Of Carabelli is more at home around Tramore than most, and after scoring over fences the previous evening he successfully reverted to the smaller obstacles in the Assembly Techniques Handicap Hurdle last friday. A fourth winner of the season for trainer David O’Brien, the six-year-old was returned a well-backed 100/30 favourite and took control of this race for J.J. Slevin in between the last two flights before getting home by a length from Basil’s Boy. The three-time course winner carries the colours of the Fastey For Fun Syndicate and could now be bound for Listowel.

Another horse to make their second appearance of the meeting was Josephina and, following her fifth to Fu’s Island on Thursday, she pulled off quite a gamble in the ELC Laser Group Mares Handicap Hurdle. The 10-race maiden, who is owned and trained by Tony Mullins, was as big as 11/1 in the morning before being returned at 7/2 and Sean O’Keeffe partnered her to a three-and-a-quarter-length success over Imperial Choice.
