THE autumn point-to-point season kicked off on Saturday with the Mid-Antrim Harriers holding their meeting in Toomebridge. Recently retired 20-time champion jockey in England and Co Antrim native Tony McCoy was on hand to present to the winning connections of the Dennison Commercials Ltd four-year-old maiden.

The presentation was made to sponsor Wilson Dennison as his Kalanisi gelding Ballycash claimed the spoils under Derek O’Connor who dictated things from the front, leading from the start and scoring by three lengths from Hammer And Anvil and Land League. Ballycash was purchased by Ian Ferguson for €13,000 at Tattersalls Ireland November Sale, 2011. A two-year-old own-brother to the winner was picked up by Frank Berry for €32,000 at the 2014 Derby Sale, but as yet has not been named.
