PHILIP and Jane Myerscough’s Colbinstown Stud made a shrew investment when they gave €35,000 for Kalandara at the Goffs November Sale in 2013. Part of the annual cull of mares and fillies by the Aga Khan Studs, she was in foal to the Group 1 winner Siyouni (Pivotal) and the resulting colt traded for 85,000gns as a foal and 320,000gns as a yearling. On the latter occasion John and Jake Warren purchased.

Last year Kalandara’s yearling filly by Lawman (Invincible Spirit) was sold through Baroda & Colbinstown Studs at Goffs and once again the Warrens were the purchasers, giving €85,000 for her. Named Luminate, she made a successful racecourse debut on Tuesday at Deauville and won over a mile for Highclere Thoroughbred Racing and trainer Freddy Head.
