THE undulations and sharp contours of Epsom were not the only twists and turns on a fascinating classic weekend as first the rainfall attempted to upstage Snowfall (120) in the Cazoo Oaks before the jockey and runner merry-go-round almost deprived Adayar (121) of the Cazoo Derby and Adam Kirby his first classic winner.

Earlier in the week Adam Kirby was destined to ride John Leeper and Adayar’s trainer Charlie Appleby was leaning towards a tilt at the Queen’s Vase at Royal Ascot with his colt. However, fate intervened on Saturday afternoon as they were a partnership in perfect harmony to stride away to an impressive four-and-a-half length victory.
