AIDAN O’Brien was a surprising absentee from the winners’ enclosure after the 2000 Guineas with none of his five runners making the frame – the first time since 2013 that the Ballydoyle handler has not had a horse finish in the first four.

However, classic compensation was not far away as Mother Earth (108) made it three wins in a row in the Qipco 1000 Guineas for O’Brien, while handing rider Frankie Dettori a momentous 20th classic win.
