THE 37th Asian Racing Conference concluded its business this week in Korea. It may well be an event that you were not aware of, or saw little coverage about. However, 600 delegates attended this global event which heard from nearly 50 speakers. Many of the topics discussed are as pertinent to racing in Europe as they are elsewhere in the world.

In a week when the ground shifted significantly in the world of gambling in Britain, with implications for racing, a vision was presented in Seoul to widen the fan base for our sport. It is not enough to continue to maintain the numbers going racing, or to stem falls to a minimum. We need to grow interest in the sport – and soon.
