ANN Gibbons is remembered with great fondness by this writer, as was her late husband and veterinary surgeon Peter. Ann died this year and she and her son Derek, together with Tomas Kerin, bred the Hamdan Al Maktoum owned, Sir Michael Stoute trained Taamol who won a seven-furlong novice on his debut last weekend.

Sold by his breeders for 95,000gns as a foal at Newmarket, the now two-year-old son of Helmet was resold last October for 140,000gns to Shadwell. He is the second foal of his dam and the first is a three-year-old son of Kodiac named Prepotent. He found his way to Italy last year after three unsuccessful runs for Ger Lyons and has made a couple of starts this year, being placed on each occasion. He should soon add to his dam’s winning offspring.
