VIEWERS of racing on televisio should be in a privileged position. We have two dedicated channels showing our sport, both now with high-definition pictures. Live racing takes place for generally four hours a day. With a maximum of eight meetings you would think we are well served to never miss a beat.

Of course that is not how it is. The busy New Year’s Day programme saw a six-two split between the two channels. Six meetings into a half hour slot did not go on Racing TV, and of course Irish viewers have now to pay more for the limited viewing.
