The following are a few welcome comments from attendees to race meetings around the tracks over the last few weeks. Mostly good, so well done all.

First visit to @NavanRacecourse yesterday, certainly won’t be my last. Lovely course. Hospitality staff were excellent all day. The food was the best I’ve had at a racecourse. Car left over night and retrieved this morning without a worry. Couldn’t fault a thing.

I was lucky enough to attend to @NavanRacecourse and @SligoRaces races this weekend. Two days both family racing days, one thing that’s come apparent to me, things aren’t built for kids in racing. Maybe something we need to think about going forward.

Toilets, food stalls or inside dining aren’t sufficient for parents plus sitting areas really need to be improved. As for entertainment both tracks did well, but it’s really something we need to focus on

€25 admission for Galway Plate Day followed by Nathan Carter concert - fair play to the team at Galway- showing how it’s done, fingers crossed the weather plays its part & Ballybrit will be heaving. All we need now is a few big priced winners!

@BellewstownRace Congratulations on a wonderful 3 days...Great crowd on Saturday for the NH Card, Thursday & Friday also well attended. Public WILL go racing if it is welcoming & affordable.

But...we also had communication from a reader, and regular racegoer in Ireland and Britain, this week who wasn’t so happy as a regular to Leopardstown. A pensioner, he was unhappy to being asked to pay €20 OAP on the July Concert Evenings as he had no desire to stay (sorry Imelda, he didn’t want Razorlight either!) and only went for the racing, and a card had four races with less than eight runners.

We’ve seen the track pretty empty for the evening meetings earlier in the summer - though Thursday evening concerts after racing were and still are very popular, blessed by good weather. Others might say they paid in even though they had little interest in the racing but when it is a good attendance for general admisson, perhaps a few concessions to the old and young would be good? For all the difference it makes to a night’s takings compared to the annoyance that lingers among those who don’t always need extra ‘attractions’ to keep them coming racing. It’s been a good week but we need to keep every racegoer that we can.
