TIMEFORM produced a listing this week of the highest rated horses trained by Willie Mullins. As with many such lists, it generated a few raised eyebrows in the light of the horses’ careers.

It is based on their highest rating but as we know, that can be very deceptive. No one really believes Bristol De Mai was the best chaser in training at any stage, despite that Betfair Chase rating. Chacun Pour Soi (176p), is jointly-rated the third best horse Willie has had through his hands, while Un De Sceaux is back on 174, along with Footpad. Kemboy is still rated higher than dual Gold Cup winner Al Boum Photo. What odds would we expect on a match between Footpad and Un De Sceaux, or Kemboy and Al Boum Photo, assuming all were at their bests?
