While the Dublin Racing Festival is an undoubted success and we all enjoyed seeing the highest class horses strutting their stuff and offering more potential and thrills ahead, it does no harm to look at things from the bottom up at times.

The Mullins yard took nine wins from the 15 races, with our next two top trainers, Gordon Elliott and Henry de Bromhead, taking a Grade 1 each as well. Joseph O’Brien landed a big handicap and Charles Byrnes got in on that act, as he can be relied upon to do. That left Pat Fahy and Paul Hennessy as the interlopers at the grand party.
