IT’S been a long time coming but today is Derby day again. It’ll be on a different Epsom Downs where no one is even allowed to look on from beyond the rails, up on the downs, with hoardings erected to prevent any glimpse of the runners.

The race, as well as the occasion, has suffered from the coronavirus. We don’t have a Dante winner, the number one trial, and the form in a season just a month old can be suspect.
