THERE was a bit of debate generated early last week by certain racing presenters that racing would be advised to change the name of the modern ‘whip’ and instead use the term ProCush to describe the jockeys’ aid.

No one likes using the word whip but if it’s a case of perception by those not familiar with racing that we are concerned with, then if it still looks like a whip, calling it something else is pointless. It’s not going to change how the image of a close finish appears.
