Right now I am entering the final few weeks as a trainee and hope to have my first ride on the track later this summer. I have been based with Johnny Levins since the start of the year and he has promised to give me as many opportunities as possible, once I get my licence in July.
Growing up in New Ross, we always had a few broodmares around at home and my dad, Dennis, kept a few horses in training of which dual winner, Booley Bay would have been the best. My sister, Taragh, taught me how to ride and when I was old enough, I went and rode out for local trainers Paddy Kent and Aidan Fitzgerald. At 14, I went up to Jim Bolger’s where I rode the lead up horses on the gallops. I spent two summers at Coolcullen and it was a great experience to work in such a big yard and I learned a great deal in a very short time.
