DUKE Of Marmalade was a big attraction when introduced to South African breeders at Drakenstein Stud’s recent stallion day and drew a lot of favourable comment. In terms of racing performance the Danehill horse is one of the best ever to come to South Africa and his five Group 1s in one season is unprecedented for an import. He stands at a fee of R 100,000 live foal (€7,700) which may not seem much in comparison with what he commanded at Coolmore but it puts him among the seven most expensive horses in the country.
