TWICE chair of the Irish Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association and a former chair of the International Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association, Derek Iceton has long illustrated his willingness to lobby for the wider industry, rather than closet himself within the relative confines of Tara Stud’s 1,000 acres in Meath.
A third generation operator who, despite standing two stallions and more than 30 broodmares, is more a stocksman and farmer in the holistic sense rather than focusing solely on the thoroughbred, Iceton remains enthused about the future despite the very obvious challenges that exist in the contemporary age.
