THE Tattersalls Online September Sale was topped by the three-year-old Farhh filly Floral Splendour who sold for 36,000gns to Castle Construction North East Ltd.

Offered by James Tate’s Jamesfield Stables on behalf of Rabbah Bloodstock, the lightly-raced filly is a winner at Haydock from just three starts and been placed.

She is one of a pair of winners out of Red Tulip, a half-sister to Grade 3 winner and Grade 1 placed Legendary, and comes from the family of joint-champion two-year-old filly Red Camellia, the dam of Group 1 Fillies’ Mile winner Red Bloom.

Purchaser Colin Dorman outlined future plans for the filly. He said: “I am really excited with the filly and I think the new trainer will be too! She will go to Iain Jardine. She will go straight there so Iain can have a look at her, and she will spend the winter at Cliff Stud. I was looking for something that hadn’t been raced much that we could start off with next year.

“She has only had a couple of races and has won once and I thought that was good form for a filly. Hopefully we can build on that next year. She comes from a good trainer and they have decent horses. We are very much looking forward to racing her on.”

The second top-price of 35,000gns was for National Hunt prospect Jipekaa Machin, offered by French trainer Hugo Merienne. Having placed on all three career starts in France, the three-year-old son of Saonois was purchased by trainer Donald McCain. The gelding was third in a bumper on his debut, the winner later selling for €200,000, and was described by his former trainer as a “brilliant jumper, probably best on heavy ground, and more of a chaser”.

Very happy

Afterwards Merrienne said: “We are very happy with the sale and wish his new connections every success with him. We have sold a couple of horses online this year and it is a great way to reach a wider audience. We wouldn’t have physically taken the horse to a sale in England at this point, so selling through Tattersalls Online made a lot of sense. “

Offered by Alliance Bloodstock, Wonder Elzaam sold for 31,000gns to Yousef Alturaif from Saudi Arabia. A four-time winner in Ireland and England, the five-year-old son of Elzaam just missed out on blacktype when fourth in both the Group 3 Gladness Stakes and the Listed Tetrarch Stakes.

The Tattersalls Online September Sale realised a turnover of 175,800gns from the sale of 18 lots. The next online sale will take place on October 20th and 21st.
