AN exceptional January-foaled daughter of Sea The Stars provoked a bidding duel between the racing superpowers Godolphin and Coolmore, with the former prevailing when the bid board lit up with a price of 1,500,000gns at this year’s Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 1. The bidding had opened at a modest 100,000gns. It is the highest price given at Tattersalls for a yearling filly by the sire.

Breeder Robert Barnett and his wife Ann were present to see the filly sell. The object of desire for buyers was a full-sister to the stakes winner and Group 1-placed Star Terms, and they are daughters of Exceed And Excel’s champion two-year-old filly Best Terms, winner of the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes and Lowther Stakes. The family stretches back to the Barnett’s homebred champion and four-time Group 1-winning mare Time Charter.
