A STRONG opening session of the Tattersalls July Sale on Thursday saw a remarkable clearance rate of 96%, with the ever-popular Godolphin draft accounting for four of the top 10 prices on the day. They included one of the joint top-priced lots on the day, matching the price achieved for a full-sister to leading first-crop sire Prince Of Lir. That clearance rate was matched again during yesterday’s session.

Consigned by Highclere Stud and in foal to that farm’s Land Force, who has just completed his first season at stud, the three-time winner Kalagia is a daughter of Kodiac and her other successful sibling is the stakes winner Nitro Boost. She was sold to Tim Lane for 130,000gns. Lane said afterwards: “I am not sure of plans, but she has an exciting pedigree and obviously Prince Of Lir is flying.”
