YOU listen to Aidan O’Brien after a Group 1 win and he’s thanking everyone connected with the horse, especially the team at home, the person who looks after the horse, the person who rides him out. You’d be forgiven for thinking it’s just modesty. Admirable but systematic.

When you see O’Brien up in person, in Ballydoyle, you know it’s completely genuine. It is a true pleasure to be in the man’s company. It’s also a true pleasure to walk around the facilities of Ballydoyle. And it’s a true pleasure to see the cream of the Galileo/War Front/Australia/American Pharoah crop. Not bad for a Monday morning, eh?
