COUNTY Down’s Kirsten Farr certainly had a day to remember when she stormed to victory in the 1.30m Mini Grand Prix at the three-day Portmore Winter Show. The 19-year-old full-time student was riding R Candy, her 11-year-old Heartbreaker mare whom she has successfully partnered for the last year.

Leaving nothing to chance and knowing that the ‘jump-off’ class had many of the great and the good from the world of show jumping, Farr delivered a blistering, foot-perfect round to put the pressure on her fellow competitors. However, her time proved impossible to beat with Declan McEvoy giving it the best try with Lotus SE, followed by Paul Caves in third place on Quinten.
