IT could be an exciting evening for members of the Supreme Horse Racing Club at Killarney on Wednesday, with high-class mare Airlie Beach one of three runners on the card for the successful syndicate.

Airlie Beach, the winner of seven races including the Grade 1 Royal Bond Novice Hurdle, makes her flat debut and first start since chasing home Apple's Jade in the Mares Champion Hurdle at Punchestown in the Corcorans Furniture & Carpets Maiden under Declan McDonogh.

The daughter of Shantou won each of her first seven starts for Willie Mullins, rounding off the unbeaten run with victory in the Royal Bond Novice Hurdle at Fairyhouse last December.

She disappointed for the first time when a leading contender for the Trull House Stud Mares' Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham Festival, but showed her true colours when filling the runner-up spot behind Apple's Jade in the Mares Champion Hurdle at Punchestown in April.

Airlie Beach makes her first start since in the Corcorans Furniture & Carpets Maiden and connections are hoping she can add to her tally, with her racing days coming to an end.

Steve Massey, racing manager for the owners the Supreme Horse Racing Club, said: "Airlie Beach is in good order and we're obviously looking forward to seeing her in action again.

"She is in foal to Mount Nelson. She was a little bit late getting covered as we thought long and hard about whether we should keep her in training for another season.

"However, she's already won and been placed in a Grade 1 and has also won a Grade 3 and a listed race, so she's obviously a valuable broodmare prospect. The plan is to keep her going for the full 120 days she's allowed to run for and she will then be sold in-foal later in the year.

"She was the first Grade 1 winner for the club and it's been a dream come true for everyone involved with her. A lot of people say some mares improve for being in-foal, so we'll see how she performs on Wednesday."

A couple of hours later, the familiar blue and white silks will be carried by Wood Breizh in the Bet Through The Racing Post App Handicap Hurdle, and he is Ruby Walsh's only ride of the day.

The final Supreme representative is Galaxy Burg, who makes his racecourse debut in the concluding Meet The Roses At The Races (Ladies Pro/Am) Flat Race in the hands of Katie Walsh.

Steve Massey, racing manager for the club, said: "We've never had three runners in a day, so it's exciting and we're expecting plenty of our members to be there.

"We've had quite a few runners in the last few weeks and a lot of seconds and thirds, so hopefully we can get back in the winner's enclosure on Wednesday.

"Wood Breizh has been a great little horse for us. We didn't pay a lot for him, but he's won twice over hurdles and once on the Flat and has been placed a good few times.

"He was beaten less than a length on the Flat at Ballinrobe a couple of weeks ago and we'll see how he gets on back over hurdles.

"The trip will suit him, the ground is right and it looks a good opportunity."

Of Galaxy Burg, Massey added: "He's a nice sort by Sageburg and it will be good to get him started.

"We've waited a while for him as he's had a few little niggles, but never anything serious.

"He seems to work well at home for lady riders, so this looks the ideal starting point for him with Katie on board."
