ADRIAN McGuinness has had some memorable days at Galway but none quite like this one as a long-term plan came together in seamless fashion when Saltonstall and Colin Keane bagged the day two feature amply rewarding the faith and patience of his connections.

All the way back in 2010, McGuinness struck premier handicap gold at Galway when Toufan Express won what is now the Ahonoora Handicap and he has enjoyed a number of Ballybrit winners to savour since then. However, this was the most lucrative success of the trainer’s career and in netting a first prize of just over €70,000 Saltonstall more than repaid his connections the €44,000 he cost at Goffs last year.
