IRISH chef d'equipe Robert Splaine is bringing out the big guns of Irish international show jumping for the crucial Aga Khan Nations Cup clash at the RDS on Friday, July 22nd next.

The Nations Cup Squad in alphabetical order will be:

Bertram Allen from Wexford with Hector Van D’Abdijhoeve

Rio-bound Greg Broderick from Tipperary with MHS Going Global

Darragh Kenny from Offaly with Go Easy De Muze

Denis Lynch from Tipperary with All Star 5

Cian O'Connor from Meath with Good Luck

AGA KHAN TROPHY

Robert Splaine said: "We always look forward to competing at Dublin which is internationally recognised as one of the best shows in the world, and we will be doing everything we can to repeat our great victory in the Aga Khan from last year."

In Ireland's Nations Cup campaign to date, our first point-scoring round which was the Lummen Nations Cup in Belgium was unfortunately cancelled due to bad weather. The Irish team then pulled off a great win in Switzerland at the St Gallen Nations Cup while last Friday's Falsterbo outing ended with Ireland in equal sixth place with Germany.

Speaking of the sponsorship, Nigel Poynton of Investec Wealth & Investment, said: “Investec are proud to sponsor some of the best sporting teams around the world and the Irish show jumping team is a great addition to our portfolio. We hope that the team can emulate their success of 2015 and win the Aga Khan Trophy for a second year in a row.”

Last year saw Investec announced as the first ever corporate sponsor of the Irish showjumping team and the team of Bertram Allen, Darragh Kenny, Greg Broderick and Cian O’Connor - who has over 100 caps for Ireland - emerged victorious to secure the coveted Aga Khan trophy.

All eyes are now firmly on the RDS to see if the boys in green can pull it off again.
