SOUTHFIELD Theatre (33-pace adjusted 39) earned a rating good enough to win many renewals of the RSA Chase when making all the running to win on his chasing debut at Chepstow.

Southfield Theatre over-jumped a couple of fences early but jumped better when jockey Sam Twiston-Davies was allowed to slow the gallop on him once they made the turn that took them towards the far side of the track. He got his mount to pick up the pace again coming down the hill into the straight and this seemed to make him a bit stretched over the last three jumps. He hit three out, dragged his back legs a bit at the second last and then did it more seriously at the last. However, he was never in danger and just kept on strongly all the way to the finish.
