Thankfully, the early morning rain gave way to dry conditions before the start of competition, which was at the very civilised hour of 10am, as the extended White family hosted their second Eventing Ireland one-day of recent times.

The Route hunt, of which Philip White is chairman and joint-master, had to cancel their point-to-point in nearby Carrowmena last month because the course was found to be unfit for racing and the inclement spring weather had its effect on the cross-country course here as well.
