DIAMOND Boy has been among the busiest stallions since his arrival in Ireland, and that is hardly a surprise given his results on the track and in the sales ring. The son of leading French National Hunt sire Mansonnien (Tip Moss) began his career in his native France, covering at a low fee. The 14-year-old is now in his third season here, standing at Kilbarry Lodge Stud.

Diamond Boy, a 14-furlong listed scorer whose flat wins include a 15-length score in a conditions race over 15 and a half furlongs at Saint-Cloud, always had considerable potential as a sire of high-class hurdlers and chasers, and not just because of his male line. He is by the sire of Golden Silver, Or Ou Argent, Taranis, J’y Vole, Mansony, Millenium Royal, and many others of note, and he is out of the Glint Of Gold (Mill Reef) mare Gold Or Silver, which makes him a full-brother to the first two stars named on that short list.
