THE National Hunt season stepped up in the last week, with a handful of graded races, most notably at Down Royal.

The Grade 1 Ladbrokes Champion Chase was a little light on numbers but not on quality, and in winning for the second year running Road To Respect reminded us just what a classy performer he is, at least at this time of year.
