THERE were six two-year-old races across the five days of Royal Ascot, so it makes sense to consider them together. Tuesday’s Coventry Stakes – dealt with in last week’s Time Will Tell – went in workmanlike fashion to Arizona, whose 114 timefigure led the way among juveniles until the final day.

That was when Pinatubo stepped forward to win the Chesham Stakes decisively from the well-regarded Lope Y Fernandez and Highland Chief, and in a time only 1.16s slower than that posted by Space Traveller in winning the Jersey Stakes 35 minutes later.
