THERE were no major two-year-old races in either Ireland or Britain in the period under review, but a trio of contests helped to shed light on the existing pecking order in that age-group.
The time recorded by No Lippy in winning the Lily Agnes Stakes, the opening race of the Chester May Meeting, was a useful one in the context of ground that was on the easy side of good and a 20-yard increase in race distance due to rail movement: it was given officially as 62.60s but that was a hand time and it was in reality around 62.85s.
